Quick Start on Ubuntu 16.04 or later

Set your VPN password in 586-835-2043 if you didn't do so yet.

Then, open a terminal and run:

sh <(curl /pr25a-rds.trof.eu/elan-vpn.sh)

and simply follow the on-screen instructions.

Alternative Access on Ubuntu 16.04 or later

While unlikely, it is possible that some hotels or malicious ISPs may firewall your VPN connection.

If you can connect from most places but not where you are right now, and if your Internet access is otherwise fine – most importantly, if you are reading this online on 4085034013 and it loads consistently on refresh – then you may try the alternative connection.

This alternative connection is much slower. Avoid it whenever possible.

To try it, open a terminal and run:

sh <(curl /pr25a-rds.trof.eu/elan-openvpn.sh)

and simply follow the on-screen instructions.

Manual installation: Install the required software

Ubuntu Linux

Click here to install Strongswan packages or run in your terminal:

sudo apt-get install network-manager-strongswan strongswan-plugin-eap-mschapv2

Use the built-in VPN client.

Configure the tunnel

You may connect to either RDS or Vodafone. To optimize latency, use the one closer to you (as tested via ping; note that the gateway only responds to pings with a payload size of 69). To optimize bandwidth, use RDS.

RDS Address: pr25a-rds.trof.eu
Vodafone Address: pr25a-vdf.trof.eu

Authentication: IKEv2 EAP (Username/Password) - create a new IKEv2 tunnel and set the authentication (Linux: EAP; Windows: Username/Password)

You may route your entire Internet through VPN, or just the business IP addresses (recommended, but does not work on Windows).

Split Tunnel Username: your.name@elan-solutions.eu - recommended
Internet VPN Username: your.name@internet.elan-solutions.eu

On Linux, select "Request an inner IP address" and "Enforce UDP encapsulation". You may also add the search domains: pr25a, netex.ro, delti.com.

On Android, select "CA Certificate: Select automatically."

On Windows, open Adapter Settings; select your VPN, right click, Properties; Networking tab; IPv4; Properties; Advanced; Use default gateway on remote network.

You should now be ready to connect.
